Commercial objectives

Development of a cost-effective tool that provides the end-users (farmers or technicians) with improved con­trol over fruit growth and quality, effortless irrigation and fertilization management and accurate su­per­vi­sion of the state of the irrigation sys­tem.
Increases of water and nutrient use efficiencies between 10% and 15% compared to state-of-the-art au­to­ma­ted systems and common efficient irrigation practices.

Scientific objectives

Automation of the establishment of accurate daily water and fertilizer volumes as well as the optimal ap­pli­ca­tion strategy in terms of cost, productivity and environmental impact so as to achieve the highest efficiency allowed by each given irrigation system and site-specific conditions.
Definition of new methods and indicators to better interpret feedback data obtained from soil and plant sensors.

Technological objectives

Design, implementation and validation of an ICT based platform including the field data acquisition and control network as well as the server software, all driven by open standards and offering outstanding in­ter­o­pe­ra­bi­li­ty.
